The ambition of Arla Fonden is to create FOODcamp in cooperation

Our goal is to create and develop a school camp based on food literacy, food courage and new learning methods.

The purpose of FOODcamp is to encourage a healthier lifestyle through experiences with natural commodities, cooking, activity and learning.

With children’s food literacy at the centre

Arla Fonden wants to create the school camps of the future around the values:

         food joy – fellowship – responsibility – sustainability – curiosity


From the very beginning, Madkulturen took part in forming the concept of FOODcamp. Today, FOODcamp is run by the staff of FOODcamp, the board of Arla Fonden and external experts, who continuously strive to create the optimal concept. A concept that will hopefully make the FOODcamp course the catalyst for children’s food literacy.

Big ambitions

The ambitions of Arla Fonden are big, but very specific. Arla Fonden wants to offer a FOODcamp stay to 10,000 children – every year.

The first FOODcamp located on Helnæs already hosts 1,600 children every year. And a second FOODcamp is set to offer great new experiences in Southern Denmark, when it opens its doors to students in the spring of 2020.

However, it is essential to Arla Fonden that the journey to improve the food literacy of children is not a solo adventure. That is why Arla Fonden aims to form strong partnerships with relevant companies and organisations, who also work to better the lifestyle and food habits of children.

Why FOODcamp?

Most children love school camp… and with good reason. At school camps, children get together in new ways with room for new experiences. And with no ringing bells to interrupt the fun, the children are together from morning until evening.

FOODcamp combines the known forces of the school camp concept with the life-qualifying ability to take care of your own food.
